The beautiful forest location and extensive grounds of Rhinefield House on the Hampshire Dorset borders of the New Forest creates the perfect backdrop for Sarah and Erins’ pre wedding shoot for their autumnal wedding this October.

All photographers should be aware of semiotics, photographers should know how to read a photograph and deconstruct an image. A photograph is read as if it were a piece of text; signs and codes within a picture have cultural, iconic, metaphorical and symbolic connotations. A photographer should also have the skill to construct an image which has a denotative and a connotative text that underpins the photograph.
In Monday’s pre wedding shoot, Jenna and Gary have a relaxed and natural pose with the beautiful backdrop of the river at Christchurch Harbour. Their posture and body language shows that they are comfortable being in each others personal space and indicates they are very close emotionally. Their stance and posture is very equally balanced, representative of their relationship.
There are many messages in this photograph. The swan in the foreground has the symbolic meaning of love, purity and represents an extremely strong bond, swans have one partner for life. The steps mean that they have reached their summit of pre wedding preparations and are ready for the ceremony.
Time will fly by and their wedding day in August at the Captains Club will soon be here. I am looking forward to the Big Day!

Pre-wedding pictures for Sheila and Tristan at the East Close Hotel near Holmsley. On these shoots we get together and spend some time having some very relaxed sample pictures as well as having a number of locations earmarked for the wedding. This is a good bonding session between the photographer and his excited clients as well as getting use to being in front of the camera which makes the wedding day much more comfortable and one less thing to get anxious about.

Clare Falkner and Mark Carroll, on the first day of their two day wedding celebrations. Dress number one on a Sandbanks jetty behind the Haven Hotel. The early afternoon light was used to its best effect to produce a classic timeless image. Day two, the party continued and finished in the new wedding venue in Wimbourne: “The Roman Forte”. A really mixed day of mist, rain, wind, sun…we had weather. However, all turned out well with a few umbrellas, a Land Rover Defender as the “wedding limo” to get us to the field next to Swyre Head, which apparently is the highest point in the Purbeck Hills. The sun came out just in time for drinks on the lawn before the dancing began!
Wedding photos for Chloe and Richard and hour after their wedding ceremony. Chloe was the sensible one wearing wellington boots under her bridal dress. This field was muddy!
Fantastic weather and gorgeous evenings create the photographers Golden Hour, a lovely warm light that is perfect for a location shoot in the Purbeck Hills. An impossible combination due to the unpredictable British climate.
