Miss Ingredient’s Red Velvet Cupcakes had this Sundays creative treatment. Up lit by the red glow of the iPad to match the indulgent bourgeoisie nature of this opulent cake which is to die for. This cake has to be included in one if the seven deadly sins. But I cannot figure out if it falls into greed, lust or gluttony? Maybe its all three.

All photographers should be aware of semiotics, photographers should know how to read a photograph and deconstruct an image. A photograph is read as if it were a piece of text; signs and codes within a picture have cultural, iconic, metaphorical and symbolic connotations. A photographer should also have the skill to construct an image which has a denotative and a connotative text that underpins the photograph.
In Monday’s pre wedding shoot, Jenna and Gary have a relaxed and natural pose with the beautiful backdrop of the river at Christchurch Harbour. Their posture and body language shows that they are comfortable being in each others personal space and indicates they are very close emotionally. Their stance and posture is very equally balanced, representative of their relationship.
There are many messages in this photograph. The swan in the foreground has the symbolic meaning of love, purity and represents an extremely strong bond, swans have one partner for life. The steps mean that they have reached their summit of pre wedding preparations and are ready for the ceremony.
Time will fly by and their wedding day in August at the Captains Club will soon be here. I am looking forward to the Big Day!

Kathryn and Nick asked me to document their post wedding party which was scheduled a few weeks after their wedding day, they had returned relaxed and tanned from their honeymoon in the Caribbean, Christmas was behind them and they were ready to meet and greet their friends and family again. It also gave everyone another chance to dress up in their celebratory togs once more, something any self respecting bride would never say no to! I suggested a Photo Booth mobile studio which always creates an opportunity to let your hair down. Here is a few early pictures from their evening:

A beautiful combination of wedding cake maker, florist and photographer. Autumnal splendour, a stacked wedding cake, blocked with fresh flowers, crab apples and berry sprigs. Totally perfect.

Mark and Clare at one of the locations between the unsettled weekend weather. This was a break in the predicted stormy weather which made beautiful atmospheric images. Traditional landscape photographers such as Ansel Adams use to wait just after a storm to take dramatic landscape images, here is ours and the full width version can be seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14666151@N07/6159169057/in/photostream/lightbox/

Clare Falkner and Mark Carroll, on the first day of their two day wedding celebrations. Dress number one on a Sandbanks jetty behind the Haven Hotel.
